Ms. Elgin crafted a neat world in the stars settled by Ozark-type folk who left Earth because there was too much government interference in their personal lives, and too much pollution of the Earth itself. This is a wonderfully interesting read, as Ms. Elgin has an unparalelled command of the language and can use dialect to make you feel one with her characters.
