My daughter enjoyed this little book. I thought I'd take it with me to read on the way to Vancouver and leave it somewhere if I finish it.

I didn't finish reading this until I was back home, so I still have it.

It's a very good book, set in Denmark during the Nazi occupation. Well written, exciting, and poignant, it really touched me.

This was a lovely quick read. I had no idea that Denmark had such a proud history of resistance during WW2. I really enjoyed reading Annemarie and Ellen's story and would highly recommend this to others, both children and adults, interested in this period.

A true to life story set in Denmark during the Nazi occupation in WWII. A well written tale giving an insight into the life led by Danish citizens in those dark times.

I enjoyed this sweet and touching story. I had read about this aspect of the war (the Danish people's resistance) before in Sandi Toksvig's book Hitler's Canary, also a children's book.

Journal Entry 11 by merrymari from Traverse City, Michigan USA on Thursday, October 15, 2009
I received this book as part of a book exchange/chain for 'adults who like ya and children's literature.'
I read this book a loooong time ago. I recall that it was very good. As with other books dealing with the holocaust as a subject, well it has it's heart-wrenching moments. I may just have to read it again. Thanks klaradyn, for mailing it to me from South Africa. P.s. loved the postcard & magnet too, such a good idea!

Update: I've had this book for 3 + years ( it is now April 2012), I've decided I can let it go. I have an excess of stuff in my life and in my bookcase. I'm considering taking it to Europe (Switzerland) when I go there at the end of the month or dropping it off somewhere locally hear in Michigan. Haven't decided yet, just wanted to let it's friends know what it's been up to. Just found it again while cleaning said bookcase, yay spring cleaning! =)
