At the time I read this book many years ago, I found it interesting and illuminating. People definitely have certain personality and behavioral characteristics that most likely caused by their birth order in their family.

Thanks again to tabby-cat-owner for ringing this book.

There can be little doubt that the first born child, or only child, burdened with parental inexperience and high expectations, grows up with certain easily-recognisable characteristics. It is when it comes to middle and last born children that Leman struggles a bit to get the reality to fit the chosen profile, as so much depends on variables such as the years between children, parenting styles and the family situation.

Having said that, this is an informative and entertaining book, written with a light touch by a psychologist with reference to many real-life examples. It is easy to read, and leaves plenty of food for thought!

To be sent to vamperstein8782 at the end of the week.

Well he certainly gets it right about the first-born, but seriously struggles when it comes to subsequent children. I also felt that there was little focus on the youngest in a 2 child family - most of the book concentrates on first-borns and 3 child families, with only a small section on parenting 2 children.

An interesting read but hardly inspirational stuff.
