Part detective novel, part psychological thriller, this is the story of a talented woman artist who goes in search of her missing father on a remote island in northern Quebec. Setting out with her lover and another young couple, she soon finds herself captivated by the isolated setting, where a marriage begins to fall apart, violence and death lurk just beneath the surface, and sex becomes a catalyst for conflict and dangerous choices.

Thanks so much for sending the books my way, loveofmylife. :)
I am really looking forward to reading this book! I recently read The Handmaid's Tale and LOVED it. I've been wanting to read more by this author!

This book really was just stunningly good for me. I loved the feeling of wonder and revelation, the pain, and the belief. I was just pulled into the head of the main character, seeing and feeling what she was. The beginning of the book, I felt somewhat disconnected, but as I read I was pulled in more and more. The ugliness of what we accept in our “modern” life was so piercingly clear that it seemed to causea physical pain and desire to withdraw. Fantastic book.
I hope it’s ok if I keep this in my PC for now. I just cannot imagine letting go of a book that got to me so thoroughly just yet, and I’m sure I’ll read and reread it if I have it about.
