I've always found Asian cultures very interesting, and I enjoyed this story of the woman who composed "The Tale of Genji," which is considered to be the first literary work to be defined as a novel. The author is the only American woman who ever became a Japanese geisha, so she has a strong understanding of the environment she's writing about.
