I was initially reluctant to read this book because, although I loved Lewis's Liar's Poker, I don't know much about sports. I have decided that Michael Lewis is such a good writer that I will read whatever he decides to write about--Wall Street, sports, the Amish, pipe cleaners, whatever.

Moneyball is about baseball, money, brains, and guile. Some of my favorite expressions from the book:

* the Good Face
* the maimed and the inept
* a bad body catcher
* "These are the guys you go to war with."
* Pickin' Machine!
* Put a Milo on him
* "Hey, Rain Man, we got a $1.8 million team on the field!"
