From the back cover:-

"Florida is full of predators, from the animals who thrive in its humid heat to the humans who stalk the air-conditioned malls, and they all give Dr Kay Scarpetta, now Director of Forensic Science and Medicine at the National Forensic Academy, the opportunity and the means to do what she does best - persuading the dead to speak to her.

In the icy chill of Boston, Benton Wesley is working on a secret project involving convicted killers, one of whom appears to confess to an even higher number of murders than the authorities had known about. It is a project that gives Scarpetta deep disquiet, as does the behaviour of her niece Lucy, who is spending too much time drinking and indulging in casual pick-ups in cheap bars.

Then the Academy is called in to assist in the discovery of a young woman's body in Massachusetts. She has been tortured and sexually abused, her body tattooed with handprints. The same sort of handprints Lucy has seen on the flesh of her latest pick-up ..."

I received the hardback copy of this Kay Scarpetta book as a Christmas present. It is another brilliant book, full of forensic detail, with a good plot and hard to put down.

I purchased this paperback copy with a BookCrossing friend in mind, who I know would love to read it, if she hasn't already managed to get hold of a copy.

Excellent stuff, a real hard to put down gripper as you'd expect from Patricia Cornwell.

Thanks so much for thinking of me Hapireada. This was a fabulous suprise to come home to, and you can see that it didn't take me long to get started on it!

Oops, that was me, not karatekid - I think this is probably a bit too bloodthirsty for his tender mind!

I started rading this and it all seemed very familiar and after about three chapters I realised that I've read it before and didn't enjoy it all that much! Sorry. Since I have a mountain of books to get through I'm not going to persevere with this one and it'll be going into a Crime bookbox.
