This an amazing book with a fantastic plot:
In Kindred , Dana, a modern African American woman who is celebrating her twenty-sixth birthday with her husband, is all of a sudden transported from her home in California to the 19th century South in order to save the life of a white ancestor, Rufus, when ever in danger. During her experiences in Rufus’s time, she begins to wonder how anyone can become a slave, but Dana soon learns how easily one can be enslaved through her own experiences of 19th century slavery. I know this book seems to place a lot of focus on race, but really, in the end, it’s about doing what one thinks is right necessary to survive.
Can it get any better?
