This is, unfortunately, one of the weaker books I've read in the Buffy series. There is unnecessary inclusion of characters - Ethan Rayne appears for no apparent reason whatsoever and the student teachers were largely irrelevant to the plot. The plot itself is weak, and seems unsure of where it places itself in the Buffy timeline.
