I enjoyed the part of this book that I read (which was everything except the last seventy pages or so) but I found the going torturous.... which sometimes happens in a book about suffering. Although I did lag with it, I have many friends who have enjoyed the book deeply, so I look forward to passing it on to Cinnycat.

I really had to rush through this. This is not a book you can dwell on. I just wanted to get to the end so that MAYBE there was a moral or something, but I realized the moral earlier in the book so I don't know why I had to go through a ridiculous book if the moral had already been revealed. I didn't get why the one person was not affected by the blindness (I don't want to mention who for the sake of future readers). This person was just as guilty as the people who became blind in regards to why they became blind. Does it count that last night I had a dream that the world ended? Sheesh. I don't really think this was worth it.

oh... edited to add other apocalypse books that I like better:
+The Stand - Stephen King
+The Day of the Triffids
+28 Days Later screenplay by Alex Garland (or the movie!)
Go read/see those instead!
