The Elegant Universe: Superstrings, Hidden Dimensions, and the Quest for the Ultimate Theory
2 journalers for this copy...
This is a tough read. I have a doctorate degree and have taken physics courses in college, and I still only understood about half of what I read. The book concerns superstring theory, which some physicists think is the "Theory of Everything". It is that theory of physics of the most elemental particles of the universe and has implications ranging from the submicroscopic level to the creation of space and time itself.
This is not a book for the easily discouraged, but even if you only understand a portion of the book (like me) you will be amazed at the thought that goes into these theories and the implications thereof.

While visiting the Space and Rocket Muesem in Huntsville, AL, I found this book. We had just finished lunch and I was throwing away our trash and there it was, waiting for me on top of the garbage cans. This one has been on my "Must Read List" for a while so I was ecstatic. I must say, it ended up being my favorite part of the day.
