From Library Journal: "In this 1941 volume De Poncins relates his 15 months spent among the Inuit people of the Arctic. He is initially appalled at their uncivilized lifestyle but eventually morphs from a "Kabloona" (a white man) to an Eskimo."
My mother got this from the library when I was a child. Glancing into it, I thought that it was fiction of a particularly brutal kind, so I never read it. Now I see that it's a slice of subistance-level life.
Trade Paperback, Time Reading Program, 1980. The endpapers show a map or aerial view of the Canadian Arctic, with the author's travels marked.
