Perfect Madness: Motherhood in the Age of Anxiety

"...this feeling - this widespread , choking cocktail of guilt and anxiety and resentment and regret - is poisoning motherhood for American women today".
An interesting book that attempts to discover why many modern mothers live with a sense of dread and dissatisfaction. I have to agree with the author that mothers who devote themselves to their children 24 hours a day while ignoring their own needs, and who accomodate their children's every wish, are raising a generation of rude, self-centered human beings. Many mothers will, I'm sure, disagree with her conclusions, but this is still a thought-provoking book.

Received from Oldbroad as a RABCK. Thank you so much! Will reading and pass along. This one sounds interesting.
A very thought-provoking book. How much stress that mother's place on themselves is their fault and how much is outside influenced? I do totally agree that it is a winner-take-all society. If you're not a winner (overachiever), who are you?
