I bought it through Amazon in used condition. It is my first Katie Fforde book, I hope I like it!

From backcover:
After a terrific, long overdue row with her boyfriend, Jenny Porter, a "Virtual Assistant", drives off to Scotland to sort out a failing mill for one of her clients. Accused of being impulsive and overly compassionate, she resolves to be business-like -but before she's even fully found her feet, she finds herself promising tohelp run a mobile burger bar. And when she sees the mill and meets the workers, she is determined to save it, whatever her client's wishes...

Jenny's awkward and alarming frequent encounters with Ross Grant, her abrasive first customer at the burger bar, don't help. And it also doesn't help that she finds herself increasingly attracted to him. Jenny's resourcefulness becomes stretched to the limit -even if she can save the mill against enormous odds, can she short out her increasingly complicated personal life?"

This is the first Katie Fforde book that I read and I really enjoyed it! It was funny, I couldn't put it down because I wanted to see what would happen next... The only thing that I noticed in comparison to other chick lits that I've read so far, was that it has many common things with some Harlequin books I've read before. The plot, the guy Jenny falls for. But even so, I did enjoy the book and I'm looking forward to reading more of her books.

I'll mail the book to Amberkatze next time I go to the post office.

Thank you asterw for this book! I have read 2 other books by this author and was annoyed with the first but really happy with the second. It will be interesting to see what I think of this one :)

I have a huge tbr pile so it maybe a while until this gets read but when I am finished with it I will trade/relay or release it.

Journal Entry 5 by Amberkatze from Wien Bezirk 10 - Favoriten, Wien Austria on Saturday, September 2, 2006
I am trying to reduce my tbr pile a little and have some books to take to the English Meet-up next week. After re-reading the back of this book and reading the first page or 2 I have decided to release this one and maybe get another copy at a later date.

Found it at the meet up and read inside that it was first registered in Greece. So I had to take it with me. :-)

The book cheered me up. It had something of a fairy tale. The woman partly behaved rather foolishly, nevertheless there is a nice happy ending. It seemed to be rather amusing and distracting in a bleak afternoon.

Picked the book up at the last English meet up. I've never read anything by Katie Fforde before and rather enjoyed her fluent and funny style. However the ending was - in my opinion - predictable and disappointed me a little bit...nevertheless a spellbinding and humorous novel.

I made my first visit to a real OBCZ while in Vienna for a day during my trip to central Europe. The Highland Fling seems to have occupied the exchange shelf already a year now so it was time for it to move on :). While attracted to anything Scottish-themed at the moment I picked this one up fly to Finland with me.

After I have finished reading, the book will continue its journey either through our local BC meetings or through a new wild release. Thank you and greetings from Finland!

I finally picked up this book to read as I am time to time working my way up from the oldest end of my TBR books registered by others. This was delightfully light and fluffy book after having read two quite cruel crime novels in a row. I enjoyed the warm spirit the story had and specially liked all the Scottish features in the book. All in all easy reading, romantic, funny and very relaxing. Might try some other books by this author too.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

While visiting Speyer and this cafe, I left this book to the OBCZ table. A nice OBCZ, but we had bad luck with cafe as we were starving but the cafe's kitchen was closed for three hours during afternoon as it was weekend. Our visit happened naturally during those hours...

Anyway, happy reading and greetings from Finland!
