The Amber Spyglass (His Dark Materials S.)
3 journalers for this copy...
The final book of the trilogy. It gives the impresion of having been hastily cobbled together with things being introduced for the first time that really should have been made clear earlier on.
I gather the author is contemplating a fourth novel which pulls everything together. Don't think I'll hold my breath................

Received as Rabck - many thanks. can't wait to get into it!
update4/03/06. this was harder going than I anticipated, and i had to dip back into the second book in the trilogy (The Subtle Knife) to remind myself what was going on.
I loved a lot of Pullman's thoughts on death and the afterlife and found them very comforting, but other parts of the book had me rather baffled. A little disapointing compared to the other two books, but still a good read.
