The book is a special school edition with the original english text on one side and the german translation direct opposite to it wich makes it easy to read when either is not your native tongue.

Das Buch ist eine Spezial-Ausgabe für den Schulunterricht, der englische Original-Text und die dazugehörige deutsche Übersetzung stehen jeweils auf gegenüberliegenden Seiten, so daß es auch für Leute, deren Muttersprache weder das eine noch das andere ist leicht zu lesen ist.

Das Buch ist mein absoluter Tolkien-Liebling, leider fast vollkommen unbekannt. Falls irgendjemand sich wundern sollte, woher mein Nickname "chrysophylax" kommt: In diesem Buch wird er die Antwort finden. chrysophylax ist ein Drache und eine der Hauptfiguren in diesem Buch, und meiner Meinung nach haben er und ich so einige (Charakter-)Eigenschaften gemeinsam - nicht unbedingt nur positive. Das Buch ist eine Errungenschaft vom Flohmarkt, ich verleihe es gerne in einem RABCK, freue mich aber, wenn ich es quasi als "Book Star" auch wieder zurückbekomme. Wenn jemand es natürlich woanders freilassen will, so muß ich das auch akzeptieren - Regalhaltung ist schließlich Literaturquälerei.
Meine Meinung: Laßt den ganzen Tolien-Rest frei und schlagt euch nicht weiter damit rum - in diesem Buch beweist Herr Tolkien, daß er sogar Sinn für Humor und Ironie hat ! (Was mir beim Hobbit und dem Herrn der Ringe irgendwie abging....)

This book is my absolute Tolkien-Favourite, but what a pity - nobody (except me) seems to know it. If anybody should be wondering how i came to my strange nickname chrysophylax: This book will give you the answer. chrysophylax is a dragon and one of the main characters of the story. In my opinion we have al lot of behavioural attributes in common - not only positive ones ;->. I bought this book at a car boot sale and are eager to lend it out as a RABCK, but i would be happy if any reader would send it back to me with a journal entry. If you give it away to somebody else or release it i will have to cope with it - books are ment to be free and not kept on a shelf.

My opinion: Release all the rest of your tolkien books into the wild and don´t bother about them - in this book Tolkien shows that he really has a sense of humor and irony which i really miss in the "Hobbit" and the "Lord of the Rings".
