This is my 4th Bill Bryson book. It departs from the others in that this really deals with science history. It isn't the kind of book that you "can't put down". I recommend reading a chapter and then putting it down. Give yourself some time to truly appreciate the research and excellent editing that makes this book special.

I'm still trying to finish it.
I registered this book 5 years ago and started reading it. Sad to say I have not even reached the middle of the book. It sits on the edge of my bathtub and I read in spurts. It isn't a bad book, but it isn't "riveting" either :)
