Beautiful Losers
4 journalers for this copy...
I picked this up at a wonderful used bookstore while visiting SIL it Toronto. Will add to my TBR pile.
I was originally registered on a bookring for this, but the ring appears stalled. Will potentially offer this up as a replacement for that ring when I get done reading it.

I have just started to read this book. It's hard to get into, it's hard to "get" really. But I think I will keep trying for now...
Well, this book was, well ... different. I'm not sure I'm the target audience for this? Or something. I don't know. I read it because I wanted to see if it would get better somehow, yet I don't think it was a bad book. Just not a good book ... does that make sense? It just didn't work for me. Hard to follow, hard to get into, and quite disturbing at times.
I am going to offer this up as an international bookray. I originally was on a ring for this book, so I think there may be some interest out there. Please PM me if you're interested in taking a crack at this one!! Thanks...Brewster13

This book was mailed today ... surface mail. I hope it doesn't take too long to get there!! Enjoy!
Received today. There are a couple of books in front of it on Mount TBR but should be on its' way soon.
Well what can I say about this book. It certainly is a child of its' time, a bit arty, hippy sixties cool. Like a Warhol film that you really think you should enjoy but end up a bit confused and bored after 15 minutes.
At times this book was hilarious at others painful. I think that it would deserve another read as I feel like I have missed a lot of the meanings and innuendo but if it was my book it would probably languish on a shelf for a long time before I forced my way into it again.
Cohen's other book (his first) Favourite Game was in my opinion bettre because of his lyrical almost poetic style of writing. This book shows this in parts but not to such an extent.

I received the book today. I'm in the middle of exams but I finish tomorrow so I will start it then. Thanks!
I finished the book during the holidays and I'm sorry it took me so long to journal it, but I had problems with my internet connection.
I found it pretty difficult to follow and get into and I'm not really sure if I liked it or not. It is a delirious book, full of emotion. I liked the historical parts, but others made it difficult for me to keep reading. Nevertheless I finished it and I'm curious to have a look at Cohen's other book (a friend of mine has it in Greek).
I have fio-dagua's address and I will send it to her. Thank you for the bookray brewster13!
