***NOTE***

While I am a writer who writes long when the spirit, and the subject, moves him you, dear fellow Journaler, aren't required to put in anything but the bare minimum ( Where Caught, where re-released, or whatever other fate you have in store for the book, even a brief review ) ...BUT longer is permissible, and encouraged, IF you are so moved to do so by my own such entries.

***END NOTE***

This book is a Hardcover w/a slide-on that slips over the front cover, and looks as seen in the picture.

When I saw this on the remainder table at Barnes & Noble, last month, memories of my youthful reading habits flooded back to me.

Frank & Joe, and the gang, AND Nancy Drew and her friends, were a major part of my reading life from age 9 thru College.

I, at one time, owned copies of EVERY original Novel in each continuing series from the late 20's until Grosset & Dunlap sold the rights to Simon & Schuster in the early 1980's.

I read the updated re-issues of the 1st 30 books, of course, thru the library, but it wasn't quite the same.

Here it was...

Staring at me as if to say "hey, remember us?".

Except that it's NOT written by "FRANKLIN W. DIXON"!!

I simply COULD NOT resist. :-D

My Book Collection?

Donated to my Elementary School where some of the books are still there, and being read, and enjoyed, 20 years later.

I'll end by saying this:

For you fans who, like me, are traditionalists where our detective friends are concerned, there is good news!

Although the books are in Trade Paperback, not as long as in the G & D glory days, & not as sophisticated ( meaning literary, and even, maybe, a little above the reading level of its audience, in order to challenge them ) in the their writing style, and come out every other month or so, Simon & Schuster has kept faith with history by keeping both original series, and their numbering, alive for a modern youthful audience ( Ages 9 to 13 ) eager for challenging, and entertaining mysteries.

This simple fact allows me to forgive S & S for starting up a parallel set of Mass Market series for an older audience of teens that, despite its own sophistication, and quality, lost me over a decade ago when they killed off Joe's Girl friend, and allowed Nancy & friends to have relationships with other boys ( chucking George & Bess's old BF's completely, BTW ).

Look on the bright side, though: New Bookworms will be born through their love of the Hardy Boys & Nancy Drew. :-D

THAT, ultimately, is the important thing.
