Book Description
When Kenneth Grahame first entertained his son with letters about a petulant character named Toad, he had no way of knowing that his creation—together with his friends Mole, Rat, and Badger—would delight children for nearly 100 years. Here they are once more, pursuing adventure in gypsy caravans, stolen sportscars, and prison, but always returning to their beloved Wildwood. And although Grahame’s characters are unmistakably animals, they remain endearingly human in their eccentricity, folly, and friendship.
About the Author
Kenneth Grahame (1859–1932) was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and raised in Berkshire by his grandmother, whose house and garden would inspire the backdrop of his most famous work. His books of stories for children include Pagan Papers, The Golden Age, and Dream Days.

Thank you for the book! Now you can paint Costa Rica on your map.
It is actually a good thing that the other book was not "on stock", now I can finally listen to the audiobook I downloaded and read along. (I was having trouble understanding the narrator since he has an English accent :P)
Thank you! :)

TBR for The Ultimate Challenge 2008 for the month of January
I ended up not listening to the audiobook, it went a lot faster to read it on my own. I also found out that I cannot concentrate well enough to follow an audiobook in English (I haven't tried with one in Spanish yet).
As for the book, it was a nice read with some amusing moments and beautiful descriptions. I almost wished I lived by the river with the water rat. Thank you for sending it to me. This book is now available.

Awwwwwwww - thank you! I'm feeling a bit low at the moment so my mum letting me know this had arrived was a lovely surprise.

This was one of those books which I felt I must have read as a child, but actually there was quite a lot that seemed new to me in it. Perhaps I just saw plays and films. Anyhow, I really enjoyed the descriptive style of writing but got increasingly tired and frustrated with the character of Mr Toad. How exasperating he is!! You do feel for Ratty and Mole and Badger, but then I suppose that's what friends are for - they still care despite your faults!
Thank you for letting me revisit this, and tick another off the BBC Big Read list.
