The story: Santiago, a shepard boy leaves his home in Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of treasure buried in the Pyramids. Along the way he meets a gypsy woman, a man who calls himself king and The Alchemist who aid him in his quest.

When I first recieved this book, it was tucked alongside my stack of other books. It was generously dropped off by a Book Crosser who *really enjoyed this book and thought I should give it a read.

I did. Alot of factors come into the enjoyment of a book. Unfortunately, this book came along when I was crazy-busy and too tired to get the enjoyment that I might have as all the others have.

The book itself is written in a simplistic manner that it can be read by anyone. What a person gets from this book is up to their understanding of the principles therein and there are many worthy comments to be made about this read. As noted in the book itself,"To relalize one's destiny is a person's only obligation".

Its concept can be compared to a folktale, a myth, a fable or something as truely amazing as a book called The Bible.
I hope that my comments are not taken out of context.

Until I had recieved this book, I had not heard of the author or the book itself. This is the beauty of Book Crossing. Thank-You.
