I found this book to be very powerful reading. Its very graphic descriptions of the assault experienced by Alice Sebold are not for the timid. I think the power of this book is more in the vivid daily details of how an act of violence changes forever the life of the victim. The author emerges from this horrific circumstance as a very strong and certainly brave woman.
I actually found "The Lovely Bones" (her novel) to be the better book, in my opinion. I am glad, though, that I had a chance to read both books.
This is a gently-read trade-size soft-cover in excellent condition.
