Book Description:
A heroine is supposed to live happily ever after her marriage. But Lady Raven – the young, courageous, and independent Nora Woburn of Leslie O’Grady’s first novel, “The Artist’s Daughter” – has suddenly been left alone by the tragic deaths of her beloved husband Mark and their son Gabriel in a mysterious fire.

Surrounded by well-meaning advisers, Nora is determined by make her own decisions and soon finds herself confronted by Drake Turner, a forceful and intriguing man who will apparently do anything to buy her share of the Raven shipping interests. Nora is initially outraged by Drake’s underhanded and ungentlemanly business tactics, but as they spend time together discussing their new partnership, Nora begins to wonder if she has misjudged him. When, to Nora’s shock, an American woman named Ella Mason arrives in London, claiming to be the real Lady Raven, Nora finds comfort in Drake’s attention as she is tormented by painful new doubts about Mark. But still in mourning and haunted by the now somewhat ambiguous memory of Mark, Nora hesitates to accept Drake’s advances. And when she sees the horrifying words, “Nora will die,” written in the dust of Mark’s desk, she does not know whether to run to Drake for comfort or flee from him in terror.

This book was my Christmas present from Zarylia. She ABSOLUTELY adored the book, and refused to let me borrow it for fear the shipping involved might damage it in some way. I guess it's not a very well-known book because 1)Amazon didn't have hardly any of its vital info and 2)Zarylia is the only BCer besides me, now, that has a copy of this book. Wow! It doesn't happen very often that I come across such an obscure book. I can't wait to read it. Thank you Mags!

When I first started reading this book, I laughed at the silliness of Leslie O'Grady's writing. It was very amusing! But the further I got into the story, the less I paid attention to the writing style- for it was no longer of any consequence. I read this book within 24 hours- I couldn't help it! The story just drew me in. I loved Drake FROM THE START, despite Nora's vehement distrust of him, which I thought was widely unwarrented, seeing as she was judging him based wholly on her dead husband's view of him. And let me tell you, I was SICK TO DEATH of hearing Mark-this, and Mark-that. She would not let go, and it was Annoying! I didn't trust Amabel (which I think is a horrid name by the way) at all, especially since she happened to be glaring at Nora at every other moment, which was rather suspicious considering the circumstances. And I must say, I'm Very Glad that Leslie O'Grady did not end the story with a Nora-left-to-find-herself-THE END. That would have caused my book some pain, and perhaps the wall a bit too, seeing as I would have given the book and unannounced flying lesson, had it turned out that way. But it didn't and I'm happy. Thank you for a lovely Christmas present Zarylia! I can see why you refused to mail your own.
