Picnic at Hanging Rock

I liked the book but it took me a while to get through despite it's short length.
The middle section wasn't very enthralling and didn't hold my attention for more than a few pages at a time with lengthy periods in between. But as I pushed past, I came to the end few chapters which more than make up for the slow middle section.
I'm not interested in reading the last chapter, The Secret of Hanging Rock, even if I could get my hands on it. I like the way the book ends. If it didn't have the mystery, it would have nothing, seen as the characters are basically two dimensional and lack substance.
That's the only real drawback of the novel though - which, despite common belief, is actually NOT based on fact. It is fiction, pure and simple.
I'm going to hang on to this one for a little while. It's a great Australian classic, how could I not??? ;)
