An astounding and remarkable story of a man trapped inside his own body, unable to communicate except with his eyelid. That he was able to dictate the text of this book before his passing is a testament to the triumph of the human spirit.
Released to silverstarry!
Just received this today - can't wait to read it!
Whew, I finally got around to reading this book! I meant to read it much sooner but I have had a ton of bookrings visiting me the past few months. I am so glad that I finally read this beautiful, inspiring book.
The author suffered a stroke when he was in his 40s, leaving him almost completely paralyzed. His left eye was the only part of his body he could control, so he was able to communicate with others by blinking. Incredibly he was able to compose all of these essays in his head. Some focused on his current state while others were descriptive reminiscences of his past.
This book was so uplifting, touching, and eloquent. The book review quote from the New York Times sums it up perfectly: "A wistful, poetic, ironic and whimsically affirmative testament by a man who refused to die in spirit."
Thanks so much to Snerdie for trading with me!
