Saving Grandma

1 journaler for this copy...
It took me one whole day to get through this book. Essentially, the story is told by a young teenager named Calvin. He describes life in Switzerland with his Presbyterian missionary family, having to live with his foul-mouthed, rude grandmother and his friendships and loves. The beginning is hilarious, and there are some funny moments as the book goes on, but in the end, I wasn't all that impressed. Especially because the title of the book is "Saving Grandma" and I'm not sure if she was actually saved or not. Also, there's something a bit disturbing about referring to those with Cerebral Palsy as "spastics".
Sending this to Goonworks in Vancouver once I'm done with the other book I'm sending her!

This book is with Goonworks now. Let me explain. There was some odd glitch and when Goonworks made a journal entry to say she caught the book, there was a duplicate "blank" copy that appeared on my bookshelf instead of her entry. Now, I'm a bit of a neat-freak with my bookshelves, so I deleted the blank entry, only to have Goonwork's entry accidentally deleted in the process! [Oh, the pains of technology sometimes]. Just to let you all know. My point is that Goonworks has this book now, so if you're interested in it, contact her! :)
