An evening of long goodbyes

[from the book: "...the story of Charles Hythloday and the heroic squandering of the family inheritance. Featuring drinking, greyhound racing, vanishing furniture, more drinking, old movies, assorted Dublin lowlife, eviction and the perils of community theatre, Paul Murray's debut novel is a tour de force of comedic writing wrapped in an honest-to-goodness tale of a man -and a family- living in denial"]
Charles has never worked in his life, he's used to mantain a high standard of living and doesn't have a good opinion bout those having to work for a living...
Everything changes when debts threaten family fortune. Problems appear and Charles, whom you gradually get fond of (quite a curious guy, with a funny sense of humour...), changes his vision of life and learns the true meaning of love, friendship, money, job (a word he specially hates!)...and life in general!!
A funny good piece of writing, hope Murray will keep on bringing us new stories

This book tells the story of the Hytloday family and their grand home, Amaurot, through the eyes of Charles, a want to be aristocrat who likes a good drink. Things start to go wrong for Charles when his sister Bel starts going out with a rather primitive man named Frank.
I started to like Charles about half way through and found his total naivity to absolutley everything hilarious.
