This is the first installment in a series featuring Lauren Laurano, a 42-year old private eye. She is a lesbian, living with her partner Kip in New York City. The case she is working on begins with the rape of a woman named (yes, I know) Lake Huron; as Lauren begins investigating the case grows incredibly complex and takes her back into the 1960s, especially when murder rears its ugly head and Lauren must work fast to prevent another.
Just so you know, the book is somewhat dated (the internet is in its infancy stages and the big communication medium is the old BBS), but it's still fun. I liked the main character & her partner; I liked her friends as well. Overall, the book was quite good for a series opener, and since I have the other ones, I know I'll be reading through the series. All mystery fans should enjoy it.
