A somber and enlightening look into the lives of the wives of junior enlisted men, too often anonymous and unheard in the military community. The author interviewed hundreds of spouses,Army personnel, and others in the military community and here selects three women whose voices convey the dilemmas faced by many junior enlisted families: Dana, a young, almost stereotypical wife of a junior enlisted soldier;Jennifer, a teenage wife and monther managing a limited lifestyle; and Tony, a more mature, educated, ex-paralegal who leads her husband's unit's Family Support Group.

As the wife of a junior enlisted solider, I look forward to reading this book to see if it rings true. I know the title caught my eye. Considering planning a bookray.

A pretty good read. I found that I fit into aspects of the "stereotypical" junior enlisted wife. I dislike stereotypes, they are grossly inaccurate and unfair generalizations.(Is that the actual definition?)
I related most closely with the financial difficulties expressed by the 3 women. The junior enlisted pay is not alot, particularly when not living in government quarters. We had 3 children when my husband enlisted, were unable to get into post housing, and it was extremely difficult to make ends meet. FSG/FRG experiences varied for us at each duty station, but overall I never felt that it was my best support. I felt "invisible" especially at our first duty station.(I still do feel that way at times, but that is mostly of my own doing:P) These stories have so many similaries to my own experiences I giggled a few times and shook my head alot.
Plan on passing this along to a fellow Invisible Woman on her way to Ft. Stewart.
