I loved Palliser's novel, The Quincunx...very Dickensian. The same can be said of this novel, but it's not quite as satisfying. Three separate stories are interwoven here, all relating to an 11th century manuscript. This is the hardback version printed in Britain, possibly not available in US? I will be releasing this somewhere between Phoenix and Baltimore, returning from my first cross-country road trip.

I think I've got the date right...was returning from my first cross-country road trip and things were beginning to blur by that time. A table of sale paperbacks and knick-knacks was sitting outside the entrance to the Conoco Travel Plaza store. I put this book there and the lady looking though the pile grabbed it immediately...hope it's enjoyed!
