This was just a damn good book. I got misty-eyed near the end (but that could've been due to my flight being delayed nearly three hours) and I really felt touched by it. Being from a town where Football Is God, I could really understand this over-the-top complete adoration for the sport, and also how it messes with people's priorities.
A great sentimental novel, though you should have at least some liking for football if you want to read it. Otherwise there will probably be a lot you don't understand.
