A girl who has seen more darkness than most.

A Scottish lawyer waiting to be killed.

A fingerprint discovered at a murder scene, from a man who couldn't possibly have been there.

As DI Alex Morrow acts as a witness in the trial of arms dealer Mark Lynch, who ranks among the most brutal and damaged of the criminals she's known, she's called to the death of a young businessman.

Her investogation uncovers a vicious network of power and corruption that reaches back to Glasgow on the night Princess Diana died.

And to a fourteen-year-old girl sat in a car with a dead body, the murder weapon still in her hand.

I have double copies of this book, so letting one travel. When I've read the copy I have I'll try to remember editing this journal with a little review.

Glasgow mentioned, so taken from the Stockholm meet-up... If I don't end up reading it, I'm sure someone in Falkirk Convention will!

The book travelled with me to Slovakia, Vienna and back. A pretty good thriller, although I struggled at first to keep up on who's who in it.

Picked up at the Falkirk Convention to read on the train journey home

Journal Entry 8 by kinedi at Rushyford, County Durham United Kingdom on Tuesday, June 20, 2023
This was my first Denise Mina novel but it was the 4th in a series so I found a lot of ongoings confusing as I probably didn't know the backstory from the previous books. It certainly was well written and gripping but I constantly felt like I was missing something. Note to self - read them in the right order. I did like the character of Alex Morrow and how she is trying to do her best as a police officer and mother while also dealing with a criminal brother in her own family.
