Received from loribee. I was intrigued to discover that Abi Oliver is the same writer who has published more than twenty novels about women in Birmingham under the name of Annie Murray. This novel is in a different genre, set in a Berkshire village in 1964 and with a male protagonist, recently widowed and having to work out new ways of relating to women after twenty-six years of childless marriage. The novel is full of fascinating characters. I was 17 in 1964 and there are a couple of seventeen-year-old minor characters in the story, who added to my enjoyment when reading it. Now travelling.
