Bitter Lemons
2 journalers for this copy...
Memoir of Lawrence Durrell's living in Cyprus and the politics of Cyprus v Greece during that time, 1953-1956. The intro says it's not a political book...
Beautiful descriptions of the land and it's people and of a political unrest and nationalism that began to grow during that time. Very interesting and beautifully written.
I've also read Lawrence Durrell's "Alexandria Quartet" a series of four novels set in Alexandria, Egypt during the 1940s. Each novel is the same story from the viewpoint of a different protagonist.

I selected this book from the first line game but (note to self) DERWOODSMAN IS INTERESTED IN READING THIS LATER.
Zippy brought it to me today, along with some yummy cookies that have mysteriously disappeared already.
