I got this softcover from an online seller. It's from the popular "Choose Your Own Adventure" series.
This one had a good variety of choices and scenes, with some nods to the indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest (two different tribes featured), and with the viewpoint character's quests going from finding treasure to foiling a dangerous plot against the US. The story centers around the lost treasure ship Onyx Dragon, but most of the plotlines veer away from finding an actual ship with treasure in it - there are some intriguing variations on the fate of the treasure, and on the ways in which the main character can choose to deal with the situation.
Some of the deaths are quite unnerving - the hazards of diving, especially cave-diving, especially at night and in the presence of criminals {wry grin} do come up - but the triumphs are highly satisfactory.
Bonus: at the end of the book there's a glossary of pirate terms, suitable for use on Talk Like a Pirate Day!
