Dieses Buch hatte ich vor einger Zeit in einer Second Hand Buchhandlung gekauft, um es vielleicht einmal zu verschicken ( es ist extrem dünn( 41 Seiten)

With 41 pages this book published in 1996 looks more like a short story or a novella , even though many questions remain unanswered. It is about the parents Harald and Claudia, who are informed byy friend of their son Duncan that their son was arrested on suspicion of killing a neighbor. They visit him in the police prison and the question is simply how the charge of "murder", which is incomprehensible to everyone, came about.
I saw that Nadine Gordimer, who was one of my favourite authors 30 years ago, has made a real novel out of the plot in addition to this short story .

Dieses Buch, 1996 erschienen, wirkt mit 41Seiten eher wie eine Kurzgeschichte oder eine Novelle, allerdings bleiben auch viele Fragen offen. ES geht um das Elternpaar Harald und Claudia, die von einem Freund ihres Sohnes Dumcan erfahren, dass dieser wegen des Verdachts einen Nachbarn umgebracht zu haben, festgenommen wurde. Sie besuchen ihn im Polizeigefängnis und es geht einfach um die Frage, wie es zu der für alle unverständliche Anklage "Mord" kommen konnte.
Ich habe gesehen, dass Nadine Gordimer, die vor 30 Jahren zu meinen Lieblingsautorinnen gehörte, neben dieser kurzen Geschichte noch einen richtigen Roman aus dem Plot gemacht hat, der in dt. ÜBersetzung"Hauswaffe" heißt und wo es offenbar vor allen Dingen um Rechtsstaatlichkeit in Südafrika nach Ende der Apartheid geht.

Since it was a very short story, it was OK to read it, even though I didn't enjoy it that much. I doubt I'll read the novel with the same plot as this short story.
