And thanks again, airyaa. I love to receive books by author I don't know, especially from far away.
I'm kind of ashamed it took me so long to read it. Actually, i started it once before, but couldn't go on for some reason - i guess i wasn't in the good mood because i really really liked it this time. But as you mentionned, airyaa, when you sent it to me, Hedayat's books are "dark" so this is really not a book to read when you're depressed or not feeling well. But what a book! There was some mistakes at place (in English) but even with that, i was impressed. I can't imagine what it's like in its original language. This is a long interior monologue, including hallucinations and dreams, with a poetic twist - i don't think there's one dialogue in the whole book. It's quite different from what i'm used to read and a very good discovery. I wouldn't mind re-reading it some day since i don't think it's a book you can "get" in its entirety on a first reading.
Thanks for sending it to me. I don't think i'd have ever read it if someone for Iran hadn't sent it to me.
