From the back cover:
Erin Davis, a popular radio broadcaster, was on set in Jamaica when she received news that her daughter, Lauren, had died. Lauren, only twenty-four years old and seemingly healthy, had woken in the night to feed her baby. In the morning, her husband found her lifeless body on their bed. Struck with grief and unable to find the answer to why Lauren had died, Erin and her husband, Rob, started the long journey through their loss, determined not only to survive but also to reclaim the joy in their lives.

At once heartbreaking and profound, "Mourning Has Broken" is the story of one family's determination to regain their optimism and hope for the future. In conversation with others who have made similar journeys, they discover that while their loss will never be diminished, they can find solace in the world around them and a way to cherish the memories of their daughter.

Inspiring and unflinching, "Mourning Has Broken" charts a way forward when life throws a curve ball. It reminds us that although life is unpredictable and sometimes unfair, we can survive and return to joy.

I absolutely loved this book. Erin tells her story with such honesty and transparency and offers a path for others to travel through their grief journey. Although Erin lost her daughter, this book will appeal to anyone who has suffered loss, whether it is the loss of a child or another loved one. The story evokes both tears and laughter and I found myself nodding my head so many times as I identified with her observations and the various stages of grief.

Journal Entry 6 by starrdust at Cookstown, Ontario Canada on Thursday, October 8, 2020
Finished reading this book today and will return it to my sister, Maranlin for her permanent book collection. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to read this - - I could hear Erin Davis speaking through the words on each page, remembering her voice that I listened to for many years tuned in to CHFI on my car radio during my drives to work down in Toronto. She shares the journey of grief that both she and her husband Rob have been travelling since the sudden death of her only child and daughter, Lauren in 2015. Told with raw emotion and honesty, within the depths of both love and despair, the message is one of hope as each new dawn begins another day leading into the future.
