I read this for my 52 in 2020 challenge to fit the 'book published when you were 20' prompt. I am not usually drawn to memoirs, but this was a compelling read. I spend half my time wondering what my twenty year old self might have made of this book, and the other half wondering if I would have had a quarter of Betty and Mahtob's strength and courage. Probably not!
