Mein Laufwerk erkennt die CD nicht. Ich habe nur 1 Laufwerk und andere CDs werden sofort erkannt.
Wie soll ich mit der CD verfahren? Trotzdem weiterschicken?

2. CD funktioniert.
Hab schon mal reingehört. Nachdem ich seit 10 Jahren ca. die deutsche Fassung höre, kommen mir diese Stimmen natürlich etwas seltsam vor. Frank gefällt mir, Helen (Heleiiiin?!, nicht Hell'n?) klingt arg zickig und schroff …
Aber ich gewöhne mich bestimmt bald.

Ooops, I have to write in english. Thanks to deepl.com I'm able to: I have gotten used to the voices by now. And I can't stop smiling especially at Helen's jokes. Since I've heard the audio book a million times in German, I can even understand them ;)
I'm at chapter 12 now. I doubt that I will write here again. I just love the audio book. No matter what language.

Marvellous, brilliant, funny... I liked it very much. I am happy I had the chance to listen to Juliet Stevenson and John Nettles. Much better than reading by myself could have been.

What a lovely little book, I couldn't stop reading. I hope Miss Hanff could travel to England finally. But what a selection of books she was asking for. I only read Pride and Prejudice and Tristram Shandy is still waiting to be read since I bought it in the seventies when I visited Laurence Sterne's home with a student group.

Now enjoyed listening to the Audiobook. I think I could realize all the hints to the events that happened through the years, like the coronation of the Queen and the election of Churchill better than before. Still I heaven't read "The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy", but I could listen to an audiobook of the novel.

Gleich zwei Ringe (ein Buch und dieses Audio-Book) in einem Umschlag. Ich freu mich sehr. Vielen Dank! Ich habe erst kürzlich 84 Charing Cross Road zum zweiten Mal in Deutsch gelesen, deshalb bin ich so sehr gespannt auf dieses Hörbuch im Original.
Oh yes, I also enjoyed listening to this delightful collection of letters. It's not only a correspondence about books giving such a wonderful insight into the lives of ordinary people in post war times, but also about real friendship. So beautiful, so touching.

I read the book a couple of years ago, and now the audio book! Marvellous! I enjoyed it so much. For example Helene Hanffs humor: "I hope MADAME doesn't mean over there what it does here?" Also very amusing: The contrast between Helenes emotional letters and Franks consistently polite and formal replies. And also between Helenes American slang and Franks perfect English.
The unequal friendship lasts for about twenty years, up to Franks death.
Helene also loves used, old books, as I do. Very likeable.
The audio book may now continue its jouney. Farewell, Helene and Frank!
