1 journaler for this copy...
I found this hardcover in this Little Free Library in Henniker NH while dropping off some books of my own, and as I'd wanted a copy since listening to an audiobook version, I nabbed it! (It has a stylish little embossed "From the library of Patch Books" on the flyleaf.)
The book's a mix of humor and horror, set in a world where people have taken to hibernating during the long cold winters - with attendants to keep an eye out for any problems, including a tendency for some sleepers to die in mid-sleep and become "Night Walkers" (aka zombies). It's... quirky {wry grin}.
The "Ice Age never ended" concept has some other intriguing effects, from the existence of roaming herds of mammoths and other Pleistocene megafauna to the fact that the humans have fur. But the main plot here has to do with dreams, specifically a type of viral dream that seems to be killing people... Turns out it's associated with a battle over new technology that could change the entire nature of society - but I admit I didn't really care about the plots and counterplots, and found the dream-visions annoying (especially as they were repeated way too often). But the scenes involving the way life works in this mostly-wintry world were quite entrancing!
