With CALYPSO, Sedaris sets his formidable powers of observation toward middle age and mortality. Make no mistake: these stories are very, very funny - it's a book that can make you laugh 'til you snort, the way only family can. Sedaris's writing has never been sharper, and his ability to shock readers into laughter unparalleled. But much of the comedy here is born out of that vertiginous moment when your own body betrays you and you realize that the story of your life is made up of more past than future.

I liked this a lot - funny bits of author's life, but most of them with kind of sad undertone. Quite honest stories of life, I think.
And now this book continues its world tour... from Australia to New Zealand to Finland to Austria! It's yours next, anathema-device!

Thank you so much, Chania! This wishlist book is greatly appreciated. I'm currently doing a super intense training course for work, some of which is taking part on the weekend, even. I'm so looking forward to the end of this madness and to sitting down with a good book and enjoying the comparative calm. And this book travelled so fast! You're the best. :)
Devoured in no time. This was exactly the read I needed right now. Not too challenging, and a good mix of funny and dark. Let's see where it will travel next!
Adding this to the office bookswap box. :)
