Someone left a bag of books on the ground next to my Little Free Library. Picked this one out of there to read.

This is a strange book that tries to be too many stories at once. It's a whodunit, a fantasy, a historical fiction, a family drama - and none of it seems to quite hit the mark. I don't know if it's an excess of narrators (eleven in all) or something else. Basically, a woman comes back to her hometown because her sister has died under mysterious circumstances, in a place where a lot of women have died over the years for various reasons, from suicide to murder to witch trials. And in the end, it's just kind of muddy and I found I didn't actually know (or care) who'd killed whom. Ah well.
