Set in a future where movies are everything but live and original, one young woman is looking for a Hollywood dance teacher to prepare her for dancing in the movies. The main character, a young man who specializes in digitally inserting movie-star wannabes into starring roles in classic movies explains that he can do that for her, but they don't make musicals anymore. By the time he realizes he's in love with her, she has disappeared, but then he starts seeing her in classic musicals. He must be imagining it--or is he? Connie Willis's witty science fiction is a delight.
When MSsaver pulled this out of her (very attractive BookCrossing-logoed) bag, I grabbed it before any of the other Meetup participants could even see what it was. What a rude, naughty BookCrosser I am. But I loooooove Connie Willis, and I love movies, and I like science fiction, and I had never heard of this book. So thanks, MSsaver!
Very enjoyable and imaginative. I was surprised that such a short novel had so many twists packed into it. My only complaint is that the narrator, Tom, never seemed as vivid as the two female characters. But he is weaker than either of them, so I guess that makes sense. Connie Willis creates wonderful, strong characters, especially the women.
I've put four more of CW's books on my Wish List. Thanks, MSsaver, for feeding my addiction.

My husband read this and enjoyed it. This morning I gave the book to a coworker.
