Read many years in school...a mystery classic.

I grabbed this paperback at today's meetup at Porter Square, delighted by the "Pulp!"-series cover-art, which takes Doyle's story and casts it as a pulp novel complete with over-the-top artwork and goofy captions. If the snarling chihuahua isn't funny enough, check out the tag-line: "Murder... Mystery... Walkies!" (The theme only involves the covers, front and back - "If you go down to the moors today, you'll be sure of a big surprise!" - while the text is that of the original work.

This is one of the better-known Holmes stories - not, to my mind, the best, though it definitely has its points. Watson gets to carry the story for a while, which is fun, and there are plenty of atmospheric scenes and general creepiness.

The story's been adapted to large and small screens many times, and has even had a stage adaptation.

I left this book on a bench at the Rt. 1 side of the Trading Post; hope someone enjoys it!
