Bridget Jones's Diary

A dazzling urban satire of modern human relations?
An ironic, tragic insight into the demise of the nuclear family?
Or the confused ramblings of a pi**ed thirty-something?

Received with thanks. I'm looking forward to reading it.
Jane Austin may well be turning in her grave but there's something very likeable about Bridget Jones's Diary.
It's years since I'd seen the film so I'd forgotten exactly how the story ran and was still pleasantly surprised at the end.
The 'short-hand' diary writing was difficult to read in places - particularly since it would change to normal prose and back again - and some of the mentions in it are dated but it's still a quick, fun read.

Thanks Stellarv! The book arrived yesterday. I'm looking forward to reading it, I'll be starting it as soon as I finish my current book :)
Even though I couldn't relate to Bridget very well, I still enjoyed reading her "diary" and I'm going to try to keep from asking single people, "How's the love life?" ;) I thought it was kinda funny that both Hugh Grant and Colin Firth were mentioned in the book and they play Daniel and Mark in the movie. I'm hoping the sequel will be a good read like this one.
The book is now on its way to meet MazieNH!!
Received this in the mail yesterday for the bookring - thanks for sharing! I have one book I am in the middle of to finish up but should have that done in a day or so and have this on its way shortly.
This was a fun, quick read - pretty much what I was expecting from what I'd heard about it before. I could definitely identify with a lot of the 20-30 something identity crisis issues. I can see why this probaby translated to film very well and would like to rent the film.
I didn't mind some of the "diary shorthand" as some of the other journalers did, but I did have to wonder from time to time what certain British words meant :)
Thanks for sharing your book on this ring - I've PM'd the next in line to get an address to send it along.
