From the back cover:

"Mother of three and wife of John-Paul, Cecilia discovers an old envelope in the attic. Written in her husband's hand, it says: to be opened only in the event of my death.

Curious, she opens it - and time stops.

John-Paul's letter confesses to a terrible mistake which, if revealed, would wreck their family as well as the lives of others.

Cecilia wants to do the right thing, but right for who?

If she protects her family by staying silent, the truth will worm through her heart. But if she reveals her husband's secret, she will hurt those she loves most . . ."

I read this book a couple of years ago and it was the first I'd heard of Liane Moriarty - here's the review I wrote when I read it:

I loved this book, it manages to combine great characterisation and humour with a gripping thriller-like plot - so often books will sacrifice one for the other but I thought this was really well done.

I got this book from a Mystery Book Box where all the books were wrapped and you only got the first line.
'It all started with the Berlin Wall'
I thought it would be a history book or a book at least set in Germany. How delighted I was that it's set in my home country of Australia!
This book follows a variety of characters through out their lives and demonstrates how consequences of your youth have a way of eating you up inside.
I loved this book and I could not put it down. It was so relatable with life and easy to read.
Highly recommend. I've already sourced another book from this author, I feel she will be in my firm favourites for years to come.
I have given this book to my MIL to read and will wild release it when it comes back to me.
