Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal

Unique premise and a hilarious execution. Great buddy comedy for anyone familiar with the New Testament (even if only a little).
I was expecting something that would be funny and offensive, but Lamb doesn't really offend in my opinion -- it's absurd and crass, but not in a mocking way. It paints Josh/Jesus in a very positive light.
If it's not taken too seriously I would recommend this to anyone (religious or not) that is a fan of Christopher Moore's wacky sense of humor.
From Chapters.ca:
"The birth of Jesus has been well chronicled, as have his glorious teachings, acts, and divine sacrifice after his thirtieth birthday. But no one knows about the early life of the Son of God, the missing years -- except Biff, the Messiah's best bud, who has been resurrected to tell the story in the divinely hilarious yet heartfelt work "reminiscent of Vonnegut and Douglas Adams" (Philadelphia Inquirer).
Verily, the story Biff has to tell is a miraculous one, filled with remarkable journeys, magic, healings, kung fu, corpse reanimations, demons, and hot babes. Even the considerable wiles and devotion of the Savior's pal may not be enough to divert Joshua from his tragic destiny. But there's no one who loves Josh more -- except maybe "Maggie," Mary of Magdala -- and Biff isn't about to let his extraordinary pal suffer and ascend without a fight."

Taking to Calgary BookCrossing extra December meeting to be passed to the wrapped book gift exchange.
This first line "The angel was cleaning out his closet when the call came." just spoke to me when it was read out at our High Tea Wrapped Book get together yesterday. Looking forward to reading this!
Ok, this was funny in spots but I found some of the language objectionable and there were some things that Biff did that "Really??" was my response. I would think that someone who hung out with Jesus from a young age would just be a few steps up the ladder in behaviour. The funny parts were where the author came up with a "I could make this into a parable some day" moment.
I am taking this to the February meetup at Cravings to pass on to the next reader.
Picked up this book at the Calgary BookCrossing February meet-up. I've read "The Stupidest Angel" by Moore, and I expect more the same quality of humour from this one.
I'm not that familiar with the Bible, so I'm sure there were some references that I didn't get, but that's fine. It actually made me a little curious and slightly interested to read more about Jesus. As for the book itself, very funny; reminded me very much of Monty Python and their brand of humour.
Passing on this book to the next reader via the Calgary BookCrossing travelling book box #1.
