An interesting story back in 1864, when in the Colorado Rockies. things were different. Laura Cheney, was left alone and expecting a child at any time, by her husband who had no regard for his wife. She gave birth alone and the Mexican Francisco Gonzales and his gang kidnapped her son. She turned to a man who had been raised by Cheyenne Indians, Deke Sheridan, to help find her son. This is the story of their quest. I enjoyed the read.
