I found this good-condition hardcover at the local library's ongoing book sale. I'd been curious about Lotz' books for a while. (I haven't read The Three, which precedes this book; not sure how closely linked the series is.)

Later: The story's set on a cruise ship, where strange things begin to happen - including the failure of all the ship's power systems and loss of communication with the outside. Different groups of passengers and crew form their own ideas of what's happening and what to do about it, with views becoming more extreme as the days pass with no sign of rescue.

And there are hints of something apocalyptic, based on the events of The Three, in which three children survived different disasters against impossible odds and were somehow presumed to be supernatural messengers of some kind - and yes, the word "Antichrist" does come up...

What I liked best about this story is the mix of claustrophobic setting and eclectic characters, with the hints about larger forces. The survival situation would be risky enough in real-world terms; with a plague, a murderer, and possibly supernatural powers thrown in, it seems our protagonists don't have a (pardon the expression) prayer!

Near the end of the book there are a lot of revelations, to the degree that one can believe anything that's said or perceived under the circumstances. I admit I wasn't thrilled with some of the late-story plot-twists, but the story still held my interest throughout, and was on the unusual side of the global-apocalypse sub-genre.
